A Short History of Tailcoats

Michael Anton, the artist formerly known as Nicholas Antongiavanni, has written a wonderful short history of tailcoats on City Journal. Originally published in 2003, the text is an elegy for white tie formalwear and its demise in American political circles, which lead with example. The process is best truncated with the following likely quote: ‘Bush. Texas. Tuxedo.’
