My Gucci Addiction by Buzz Bissinger

Buzz has a solemn given name, Harry Gerard “H.G.” Bissinger III, but is known professionally as Buzz Bissinger. He has also developed a stringent addiction to high fashion clothes which has, over the course of a few years, left him with 115 pairs of gloves and 81 leather jackets along with a total bill of close to $700 000. My Gucci Addiction, published among GQ’s pages on April this year, details his obsessions, demons, twisted sexual landscapes, leathery inclinations as well as one binge-filled trip to Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2013-2014 Men’s Collection fashion show held on January. Those familiar with style fora lingo and the circle of instakops will find Bissinger’s thoughts familiar, even if menswear might be closer to one’s tastes than fashion. One question remains best answered by each man alone: why do you keep on buying?

but in his defence, I do respect his courage in wearing whatever he wants, however outrageous, which gives the impression that (as his friend remarked to him) he ‘does really does not give a f***’. There is a really important point here about a man respecting his own individuality, regardless of what other people think, and that is about something more significant and more profound that just clothing style. And it presumably has taken even more courage for him, being not in the first bloom of youth, as it were i.e. it might have been considered more forgivable in a younger man. And frankly, since he has enough money to comfortably afford the things that he acquires, I’m not quite sure why he is so vexed about it. I know wealthy gamblers who bet more money than that on a single spin of a roulette wheel, and a moment later have nothing to show for it.

Interesting article. But this guy is very seriously deranged. Not just because of the cost of his clothing. This reads like the diary of a madman. I hope he gets some help.

btw Keikari is by far the best clothing blog.
