It is the most personal and essential of all the applied arts because the artist who creates using cloth, silk and other materials as his medium has always to contend with the human element for the shaping, as well as for the display, of his art. It is an art that is further complicated by the fact that as well as being awkward in shape his model is never static, and the finished product, which should appear pleasing and elegant to a beholder, must also be flexible and comfortable for the wearer to move in.”<\/p>\n
